Yatta Girls is a life changing opportunity for girls who’ve been rescued from life on the street. They were forced into child labour, raped, prostituted by their families. They were alone and desperate. These women, often with babies, are accepted into the Yatta and given medical attention, counselling, and a special diet.
A 2 year vocational training program has been specially designed for them. They are taught skills including hairdressing, beauty therapy, tailoring, home economics and entrepreneurship. Their babies thrive and often remain in the care of MCF. An average of 70 young women graduate every 2 years.
You Can Make A Difference
The Yatta girls need a chance to remake their lives. Funds donated to these girls are used for food, education, health care, training and career counselling.
We are asking for your help in giving these young girls the opportunity to begin a new life with safety and security and optimism.
Please consider a one time donation or monthly pledge promise. Please mark your gift Yatta Girls and thank you for helping to give these girls a new start.
The Yatta Refuge Centre is one of six MCF locations in Kenya. It is unique in all of Africa because it ministers to 14-20 year old girls, offering them training. It is located in the open countryside, 2.5 hours from Nairobi. It consists of several buildings: academic classrooms, dormitories, a nursery and training facilities.
