Since the beginning of its construction in 2019, the MCF Yatta Hospital has been an inspiring project both in scale and God-given vision. Thanks to the dedication of faithful supporters, this establishment has flourished in its construction phase!

The hospital will feature a fully equipped Emergency Room and provide all services typical of a level 5, 325-bed facility. It will serve 3 counties, Machakos, Kiambu, Murang’a, and Kitui. It is vital for patient fees to be waived for those who cannot afford healthcare. Additionally, the hospital will offer training for intern doctors and medical staff. Dr. Mulli is constructing stone houses for medical personnel to ensure they are well rested for an immense workload.

Understanding the Scope of the Facilities

To understand the importance of MCF Yatta Hospital, it’s essential to know that a level 4 hospital in Kenya is a primary referral unit managed by the county. It is led by a medical director, and staffed by clinical officers and nurses. They provide a variety of health services, including:

  • X-ray and laboratory services
  • Maternity in-patient care
  • TB, diabetes, and hypertension clinics
  • Pharmacy services
  • Comprehensive care clinics for patients living with HIV

They may also feature specialist medical centers, surgical centers, diagnostic services, and clinical laboratories.

The next tier is a county-run secondary referral hospital with over 100 beds. In addition to level 4 services, these hospitals offer advanced healthcare options such as:

  • Ultrasound and CT scans
  • Surgery
  • Physiotherapy
  • Orthopedics
  • Occupational therapy

These facilities also provide internship opportunities for medical staff, conduct research, and serve as training centers for paramedical personnel.

Construction Progress of the Hospital

Significant progress has made on the main construction of Blocks A and B.  In the meantime a smaller hospital is being built at the Ndalani sight, which already has a small clinic for all MCF kids and staff plus many in the community. This smaller Ndalani hospital will be a prototype and is a significant upgrade from the current small clinic. It will serve Ndalani and the surrounding communities well.

Construction is ongoing as funding becomes available. Due to the lack of freezing winter conditions, it is common to build in stages without the risk of structural damage between phases.

The MCF Yatta Hospital will function as faith-based healthcare facilities, offering subsidized healthcare services to the general public while charging standard fees to those who can afford them. Additional revenue in Yatta will stem from the medical students who intern and gain practical experience at the facility.

Prayer

Please keep the hospital construction and the safety of the MCF workers in your prayers as they continue to construct this important project.

A special thanks to George Zimmerman for his commitment to reporting and gathering information.
